Ingredients
1 pound boneless beef top round steak, cut 1/2-to 3/4-inch thick
1 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup cooking oil
Steps
1. Place the steak between 2 pieces of plastic wrap and pound to a 1/4-inch thickness. Sprinkle the steak with lemon pepper seasoning and salt. Cut the pounded steak into 4x1/2-inch strips.
2. Dip the steak strips in the buttermilk and dredge in the flour.
3. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat 2 tablespoons of the oil. Add half of the steak strips brown on both sides (3 to 4 minutes total). Transfer the steak strips to paper towels. Place on a warm serving platter. Keep warm.
4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 with the remaining steak strips and oil.
Tips:
If you don't have lemon pepper seasoning in your spice cabinet, substitute 1 teaspoon crushed dried basil, savory or thyme.
This recipe is ideal for pork loin strips, too.
Your family might enjoy being served a selection of sauces for dipping such as catsup, creamy Italian dressing, honey/mustard sauce and horseradish sauce.
